Pioneer Village is being taken over by a group of unruly pirates this weekend (August 14th/15th) and here are some of the scenes from the first day, which had a huge turnout.
Went to the Medfield State Hospital a little while ago with some friends, which was a filming location for the movie Shutter Island. We went there the night before and it was pouring and creepy just like in the movie. Then some pissed off security guard blocked our car and kicked us out, even though there were no signs posted saying we couldn't drive around there. So the next day we came back and walked around, which was allowed. Here's what I came up with.
I spent this 4th of July at on of the most famous places for fireworks in the USA, right on the banks of the Charles River in Boston. I've lived in MA all my life and have always avoided Boston on the 4th because of the huge crowds, but this year some friends and I made the trip. We went late, around 7 or so, and somehow managed to find the best spot right next to the water despite angry spectators who had been saving their spots since the morning.
Walking through the crowds Sunset on the Charles River Patriotic boats pass to increase patriotism Citgo sign in the distance MIT glows in the distance And the fireworks We were close enough to see them shooting off the barge I was only able to snap a few photos of the ensuing panic of millions of people leaving Boston at once. It does not justice towards the impatient young couple using their children in strollers as battering rams on our shins and ankles.
It was by the suggestion of my girlfriend that I decided to take up this project. Route 1 north of Boston is a highway full of really weird things. Old decrepit businesses, hokey restaurants with huge signs and sleazy motels. I only managed to capture a small part of Route 1 today but here is the results.
