Fourth o' July

I spent this 4th of July at on of the most famous places for fireworks in the USA, right on the banks of the Charles River in Boston. I've lived in MA all my life and have always avoided Boston on the 4th because of the huge crowds, but this year some friends and I made the trip. We went late, around 7 or so, and somehow managed to find the best spot right next to the water despite angry spectators who had been saving their spots since the morning.

Walking through the crowds

Sunset on the Charles River

Patriotic boats pass to increase patriotism

Citgo sign in the distance

MIT glows in the distance

And the fireworks

We were close enough to see them shooting off the barge

I was only able to snap a few photos of the ensuing panic of millions of people leaving Boston at once. It does not justice towards the impatient young couple using their children in strollers as battering rams on our shins and ankles.
